DESCRIPTION

The Van der Kamp Vineyard has been in our vineyard portfolio since 1996, making it one of our longest standing sources. On the Western side of Sonoma Mountain, the vines are directly in the line of the fog and winds coming in off the Pacific Ocean and in through the Petaluma Gap. Always a fun (yet challenging) puzzle to put together, it offered up some very distinctive blend pieces from its gorgeous Sonoma Mountain estate in 2021. The clone 23 from the very top of the mountain serves as the backbone, rounded out by the 828 and Martini clones from the heart of the vineyard. Finally, the 777 clone adds finesse and beautiful dried herb undertones to this lively Pinot Noir.

"
A rich but transparent red, the 2021 Pinot Noir Van Der Kamp Vineyard is from volcanic clay soils at a 1200-foot elevation and reveals deeply layered aromas of pure cherry liqueur, pressed flowers, and incense. Full-bodied, with more iron-richness on the palate, it leans to the angular side of Siduri, with woodsy spice, tangy plummy fruit, and notes of black tea. Drink it over the next 5-6 years."
