DESCRIPTION

The Barbieri Vineyard represents a homecoming of sorts. We purchased fruit from the Barbieri Vineyard almost 15 years ago when it was planted to Zinfandel. Now replanted to Pinot Noir, the outstanding quality of the wine that is produced from it remains. The 2021 growing season in the Russian River Valley was marked by a relatively cool spring and mid-summer, with heat picking up towards the finish line of harvest. The lighter than average crop accelerated ripening, leading to an early and compact harvest season during the first half of September. Vintners around the Russian River Valley were rewarded for the hurried harvest season with outstanding, intense flavors, dark colors and soft tannins.

"
Silky in texture but grounded in fine-grained tannins, this aromatic and complex wine is tempting now but will improve with time. Black fruits, redwood forest, black tea and black cherry notes crowd onto the palate and linger on the finish. With great acidity and moderate tannins, it will be best to drink from 2025-2032."
