2008 Siduri Keefer Ranch Vineyard Pinot Noir

The Keefer Ranch is always one of our richest, but also most complex, Pinot Noirs. This is attributable to numerous factors, including the outstanding job that Marcy & Craig do in farming the vineyard, the cool Green Valley (western Russian River Valley) growing.

In fact, it is the unique clonal combination that makes this vineyard truly stand out. In 2008 we were extremely selective in which barrels made it into the cut for the final wine. Only 10 out of 41 barrels made the cut for the final blend. The blend is 13% Clone 777, 32% Clone 114, 23% Clone 23, and 32% Clone 115. By blending together these different clones we are able to showcase the floral nature of Clone 23, while also giving the wine some of the herbal characteristics from the whole cluster fermentation on the 115 and 777.

The wine was aged in 70% new French oak and bottled, without fining or filtration in August.
