2007 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
Russian River Valley

Our Russian River Valley Appellation Pinot Noir has become one of our more anticipated releases. Much of this, of course, stems from the wine’s QPR (the Quality-Price-Ratio in wine geek lingo). And as good as previous versions of this wine have been, the 2007 is
even better.

In fact, 2007 is simply a stunning vintage for the Russian River Valley. It is superb throughout all of California but it is in the Russian River Valley where 2007 truly excels. The 2007 Siduri Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is a blend of 40% Keefer Ranch fruit, 24% Ewald, 20% Lewis, and 16% Parsons’ Vineyard Pinot Noir. This pedigree, combined with the superb 2007 growing season set all of the pieces in place for a great wine. Our job was simply not to screw it up. Fortunately, this combination of vineyards also led to a remarkable blend of clones (there are 7 different clones represented in this wine). These varying clones, combined with the judicious use of whole clusters, and about 45% new French oak makes for a compelling and complex rendition of Russian River Valley Pinot Noir.

The 2007 Siduri Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is a plush wine, full of ripe plum, blackberry and currant fruit that’s intense, concentrated, and spicy. Certainly this wine should age well for a few years but we feel this is one of our more immediate appellation wines and should make compelling drinking in the near term.

ONE STAR:(87-90 points) Fine example of a type or style of wine. Without notable flaws. This wine's aromas may seem simple at first and do take a bit of time to unwind, but blossom they do, and both they and the flavors that follow show the finesse and the precise, cherry-like fruit that define the best Pinots of this appellation. The wine is rounded in feel for most of its length and its finishing twist of freshening fruity acidity firms without imparting the least bit of stiffness. It is rich and ready to go now, and it offers fine value in a category whose prices are on the rise. GOOD VALUE
