The Keefer Ranch is always one of our
richest, but also most complex, Pinot Noirs. This is attributable to numerous factors, including
the outstanding job that Marcy & Craig do in farming the vineyard, the cool Green
Valley (western Russian River Valley) growing conditions, and the multitude of clones
that we purchase and blend together.
In fact, it is the unique clonal combination that makes this vineyard truly stand out. In
2006 we were extremely selective in which barrels made it into the cut for the final wine.
The blend is 22% Clone 777, 22% Clone 114, 22% Clone 23, 22% Pommard, 6% Clone
115, and 6% Clone 2A. By blending together these different clones we are able to showcase
the floral nature of Clone 23, while also giving the wine some of the herbal characteristics
from the whole cluster fermentation on the Pommard clone.
The wine was aged in 83% new French oak and bottled, without fining or filtration in September
of 2007. Only 239 cases were produced.
PRODUCTION: 239 Cases

2006 Siduri Keefer Ranch Russian River Valley Pinot Noir Adam and Dianna Lee are making increasingly muscular wines from almost anywhere a Pinot vine can grow. But this bottling from six different clones on a top Green Valley site (which just began bottling under its own label as well) has impressive earth-focused nuance. That and hints of mint and soy add depth to the rich berry fruit.
