2006 Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir

The Santa Lucia Highlands Appellation blend Pinot Noir has been one of our most popular wines ever since the 1999 vintage received a 91-point rating from the Wine Spectator. The 2006 may be the fullestbodied SLH blend since that 1999 offering. This is due, in part, to the super 2006 vintage and also because of the prominence of Pisoni Vineyard fruit in the blend. The 2006 wine is 47% Pisoni Vineyard, 38% Rosella’s Vineyard and 15% Garys’ Vineyard Pinot Noir.

Aged in 54% new oak for 10 months before bottling without fining or filtration, we are absolutely thrilled with how this wine is developing in bottle. PinotReport Magazine has already awarded the wine 92 Points and described it this way, “medium ruby color; deep, slightly closed, black cherry and smoky aromas; ripe, rich, smoky cherry flavors, complex, silky texture; toasty oak; good structure and balance; long finish. Complex and interesting
style with good depth and structure.”

93 Points - 2006 Pinot Noir Rosella's Vineyard Santa Lucia Highlands
Santa Lucia Highland Pinot Noirs are very often defined by their ripeness and weight, and, while this bottling is lacking in neither, it is the wine's balance and sense of real polish that sets it apart. Velvety smooth, yet with a fine spine of acid, it is everywhere keyed on youthful cherry-like fruit and is filled in with mildly creamy oak at every stop. A classy and complete package that ranks among Siduri's best efforts in 2006, it is at once irresistible now
and seems likely to gain still further refinement with time.
