Winemakers' Comments
The Cargasacchi Vineyard remains one of our most prized vineyard sites. Not only are the wines grown in a particularly unique part of the Santa Rita Hills appellation but Peter Cargasacchi’s management of the vineyard is superb. The resulting wines can be some of the most compelling in our portfolio.
That being said, the wines that we have produced from the vineyard over the last couple of years have been extremely good but perhaps not as stunning as the releases from the first couple of vintages. We’ve worked very hard to improve on these last few wines and thus, the 2005 vintage begins a comeback of sorts for the Siduri Cargasacchi Pinot Noir. Quite frankly, we are thrilled with the results!
This process began with limiting yields in our section of the vineyard to just under 3 tons per acre, bleeding off some of the must to further concentrate the remaining wine, utilizing some whole cluster fermentation to give the wine additional complexity, and ultimately being very selective in the blending process and selecting only 54% of the barrels for the final blend. This last step assures us that we are doing everything possible to create only the finest possible Pinot Noir It is vital to the success of the wine.
The 2005 Siduri Cargasacchi Vineyard Pinot Noir shows ripe and intense wild berry and black cherry fruit flavors, with hints of earth, mineral, and sage. The finish goes on and on. Most impressive is how this wine has filled out and developed with the passage of time leading us to believe it will only improve with some additional time in the cellar.

Rating: (87-90)
The muscular, sweet cherry, spicy, herbal, heady 2005 Pinot Noir Cargasacchi Vineyard exhibits medium to full body as well as hints of underbrush, black cherries, spice, and earth. The wine's light ruby color does not suggest the abundant flavor it possesses. - Robert Parker
