Winemakers' Comments
The 2004 Siduri Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir comes from two of the most highly acclaimed vineyards in what is quickly becoming California's Pinot Noir “appellation d’jour,” the Santa Rita Hills. This wine is a blend of 73% Clos Pepe Vineyard and 27% Cargasacchi Vineyard Pinot Noir. Much like the single vineyard versions, this 2004 Appellation wine is much more balanced than previous vintages. One of the ways we have worked to achieve this balance is by carefully adjusting our punchdown regime. We are continuing a 5+ day cold soak, punching down the skins into the must 2-3 times per day. But during the actual fermentation process we are being much more careful about punchdowns, often reducing them to one punchdown per day with that punchdown being a very gentle punchdown that barely gets the skins.

Accolades for the 2004 Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir

87 Points - Medium-deep ruby color; deep, spicy, pepper notes with some berry aromas; deep, full and ripe with moderate tannin and oak; some berry/cherry flavors; lingering finish. Earthy, oaky style of Pinot that needs a hearty dish as a companion.
