Winemakers' Comments
The 2004 Siduri Amber Ridge Vineyard Pinot Noir is Siduri’s first release from this new, fashionable Russian River Valley Pinot Noir vineyard. The first commercial release from this vineyard (albeit from another winery) received a 92 rating from the Wine Spectator. Several other high profile wineries are also purchasing some of this fruit and the vineyard has already been mentioned in several publications including an article featuring it in Bloomberg. Not a bad start for a new vineyard! The Amber Ridge Vineyard is located west of the Sonoma County airport in the “upper reach” of the Russian River Valley. It is planted to three Dijon clones of Pinot Noir, clones 115, 667, and 777. We picked these clones separately at sugar levels ranging from 24.6 to 26.2 brix. Each clone was vinified separately using various yeasts and was barreled down separately, using gravity, after 13-15 days on the skins. As is our practice, we blended these varying lots back together with a surprisingly high (78%) of the barrels making the cut for the single-vineyard wine. The wine was then bottled by gravity without fining or filtration. The result is one of the highlights from the 2004 growing season.
The 2004 Siduri Amber Ridge Vineyard Pinot Noir possesses loads of ripe plum and black cherry fruit flavors. In the mid-palate, a rich Tahitian vanilla character becomes apparent. The wine is smooth and polished with good acidity and a lingering finish. This wine drinks remarkably well now though we can’t imagine it not improving with several years’ time.

Accolades for the 2004 Amber Ridge Vineyard Pinot Noir
92 Points - Medium-deep ruby color; deep, earthy, some cherry aromas; ripe and deep, nice earthy and red cherry flavors; sweet oak; good structure and balance; long finish. Rich and bright; this Pinot is from the up and coming Amber Ridge Vineyard. Delicious.
 91 points
A pleasantly earthy style, with mineral, sage, wild berry and dusty raspberry fruit that’s well-balanced and supported by firm tannins, ending with a complex berry and mineral aftertaste. Drink now through 2010. - J.L.
