Winemakers' Comments
As is always the case, the Cargasacchi is one of our biggest and most concentrated Pinot Noirs. However, in 2004 there is also a measure of elegance to the wine. Certainly it possesses a bit less alcohol than previous years and also perhaps also a bit more mid-palate refinement (though this will undoubtedly develop more with some time.) The fruit is cranberry, cherries, and even some cigar character on the nose. The tannins are like velvet with a long finish that stays on and on, seemingly forever. We like to pop this one now and drink it with some heartier dishes though we are certain it will age perfectly well for the next 2-4 years.
