About This Wine
Sierra Mar is always a little slow at the start of the growing season but matures at a quicker rate than most of our vineyards due to its location on the southernmost site in Santa Lucia Highlands. Always a 50% whole cluster fermentation on the Pommard section, with 777 and 23 sections being completely destemmed, the Sierra Mar could be called the Cabernet Sauvignon lover’s Pinot Noir. The 2019 offers aromas of baked plum and cherry compote, with a palate that is weighty. The vibrant acidity culminates with flavors of cracked pepper, dark fruit, and fine-grained tannins providing a lingering finish. This is a fun one to revisit every few months to see how it develops as it grows up.
