Peter Cargasacchi and his eponymous vineyard have gained notoriety in a very short period of time. The biggest reason for this is the outstanding quality of the wines emerging from the vineyard, but Peter’s rather eclectic personality hasn’t slowed the publicity train. Peter remains committed to growing the finest grapes he can from his property.
In 2008, yields were exceptionally low at only 1.4 tons per acre. Despite the smaller quantity, we split the fruit into two different lots, fermenting some in tank and some in bins. We included
some whole clusters in the portion that was tank fermented while the part the juice that became wine in bins was sans stems. We ultimately selected a mere 6 barrels that
made the cut for the final wine (out of 15 total). This means that the total production of Siduri Cargasacchi Vineyard Pinot Noir is at its lowest level in many years.
The 2008 Siduri Cargasacchi Vineyard Pinot Noir is the most forward wine that we have produced from this site. With rich wild black and blueberry flavors, medium to full body and shadings of vanilla from the new oak, this lush wine is great to pop and drink now. We have no doubts it should age well but it is definitely more accessible at this early stage that previous Cargasacchi Pinots
