For many of you, our Sonoma County Pinot Noir has been your “go-to value Pinot Noir”
over the years. We are honored when we hear you say that to us at an Open House or
when we read it in your emails. And, honestly, it inspires us each vintage to produce an
even higher quality Sonoma wine.
In 2007 it wasn't too difficult to kick things up a notch as the vintage did that for us. The
vintage was a near-perfect synthesis between a cool growing season, which allows for
long hang-times and mature flavors, and a warmer season, which produces big, fuller bodied
wines. The result is a vintage with fully developed flavors, wonderful weight, moderate
alcohols, and fine levels of natural acidity.
The 2007 Sonoma County shows loads of up-front fruit, with pretty blackberry, black
cherry, and plum flavors. These flavors broaden on the mid-palate as the wine gains in
richness and adds hints of dried herbs. The finish is smooth with very little tannins. This
is definitely drinkable now and while it should last fine for a few years, it is ideal for
nearer term consumption.
