Winemakers' Comments
The 2004 Garys’ Vineyard Pinot Noir is, in our opinion, the finest Garys’ Vineyard Pinot Noir that we have produced and one of the true stars of the 2004 vintage.

For some reason, the Garys’ Vineyard performed extremely well during the warmer harvest conditions of 2004 and the wine has turned out spectacularly. Either that or maybe we have finally figured out what we are doing with this vineyard (but we wouldn’t count on that). Whatever the case, we love this wine!

Here’s what wine writer Robert Parker had to say about the Garys’ Vineyard Pinot Noir, “the deep ruby/plum-tinged 2004 offers up a big, sleek perfume of forest floor, roasted meats, black cherries, boysenberries, and a hint of licorice. Medium to full-bodied and ripe, with no hard edges, and excellent depth as well as length, it can be consumed over the next 5-7 years.” He rated the wine 91 points.

Far be it from us to disagree with Mr. Parker so we won’t - but we will add that since his tasting of this wine we think that it has only improved, particularly in its mouthfeel and overall texture. If you have been a Garys’ Vineyard fan in the past you should definitely pick up some of this. If you haven’t sampled Garys’ Vineyard wines previously then this is the one to try!

94 Points - Plush and concentrated, with pure Pinot delight built around gorgeous plum, wild berry, blackberry and huckleberry. Elegant and vibrant, finishing with ripe, fleshy fruit. Drink now through 2011. - J.L.

An outstanding effort, the 2004 Pinot Noir Garys' Vineyard is a richer, more velvety-textured, gamy, earthy version of the downscaled 2003. The deep ruby/plum-tinged 2004 offers up a big, sweet perfume of forest floor, roasted meats, black cherries, boysenberries, and a hint of licorice. Medium to full-bodied and ripe, with no hard edges, and excellent depth as well as length, it can be consumed over the next 5-7 years.
