Winemakers’ Comments
At this point in time there is no more trendy Pinot Noir appellation in North America than the Santa Rita Hills. Fortunately, this hype is backed up by legitimate quality. We have been incredibly fortunate to purchase some wonderful fruit from this area. Our 2003 Clos Pepe Pinot Noir received a 93 rating from the Wine Spectator while the 2003 Cargasacchi Pinot Noir received a 92 rating. Accordingly, we are thrilled to introduce our 2003 Santa Rita Hills Appellation Pinot Noir.
The 2003 Siduri Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir is a blend of wine from the Cargasacchi and Clos Pepe Vineyards. These barrels were especially selected for the blend in a blind tasting with the hope of producing a wine that represents the style of the region. We succeeded in this beyond our wildest expectations as the wine was one of the hits at this year’s Russian River Barrel Tasting.
The 2003 Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir is a big, rich wine. Upon opening it is impressively concentrated but still a bit tight. However, within an hour the wine begins to blossom revealing loads of dark blackberry and plum flavors. It also shows an underlying minerality (almost a coal-like character) along with superb levels of natural acidity. This is truly an impressive Pinot Noir of vineyard-designate like quality but at an extremely attractive Appellation price. This wine is available only to those of you on the mailing list!

Accolades for the 2003 Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir

A blend of Clos Pepe and Cargasacchi vineyards, this Pinot was full and ripe with berry flavors and a touch of pepper; a big wine with incredible balance.
The Siduri vineyard designated Pinots are where Adam and Dianna really stretch their legs and explore individual sites for Pinot from the Willamette Valley in Oregon all the way south to California’s Santa Rita Hills.
