Winemakers’ Comments
“And now for something completely different…” (apologies to you Monty Python fans out there
). We are pleased to introduce our first single-vineyard Pinot Noir from Oregon. The 2003 vintage in Oregon was certainly abnormal in that it was hotter and drier there than it was in California. It seems that the vines that dealt best with this type of heat were the older vines (with deeper roots) and the older clones (that usually ripen later). The Arbre Vert Vineyard is exactly this type of vineyard as it is 19 years old and planted primarily to an old Charles Coury Pommard selection.

The 2003 Siduri Arbre Vert Pinot Noir shows enough forward fruit to appeal to California Pinot Noir fans (especially when paired with food) but enough backbone and restraint to those of you who prefer a more Burgundian style wine. It shows blackberry, currant, and pepper flavors and a rich medium body. The finish reveals a bit more of the acidity typical of Oregon along with a few tannins that promise positive evolution if cellared for the next several years.
