2004 Pinot Noir, Sonoma County

This blend from eight vineyards delivers deliciously soft, juicy cherry and blackberry flavors and a creamy vanilla character for a very fair price in a world of expensive Pinot Noirs.

Adam and Dianna Lee made their first Pinot Noir together in 1994. The tiny-production wine was well received and Siduri soon had developed cult status among Pinot lovers. More than a decade later, after a lot of time on the road and in the cellar, the hard work is really paying off with mainstream acceptance of their artisan Pinots. Adam and Dianna really know how to make delicious, complex Pinot Noir. Their Pinot bottlings are sourced from a wide variety of vineyards in the Willamette Valley, Sonoma Coast, Russian River Valley, Santa Lucia Highlands and Santa Rita Hills, both as vineyard designates and as regional appellation blends. Siduri has become a benchmark for great Pinot from up and down the West Coast.

2004 Garys'  Vineyard Pinot Noir
Rating: 91
An outstanding effort, the 2004 Pinot Noir Garys' Vineyard is a richer, more velvety-textured, gamy, earthy version of the downscaled 2003. The deep ruby/plum-tinged 2004 offers up a big, sweet perfume of forest floor, roasted meats, black cherries, boysenberries, and a hint of licorice. Medium to full-bodied and ripe, with no hard edges, and excellent depth as well as length, it can be consumed over the next 5-7 years.   - Robert Parker

2004 Pisoni Vineyard Pinot Noir
Rating: 94
The blockbuster 2004 Pinot Noir Pisoni Vineyard is a superb example of a Cotes de Nuits-like offering from this site. Its dark ruby/purple hue is accompanied by glorious aromas of sweet black fruits, forest floor, and spring flowers. A lush, opulent, full-bodied mouthfeel, silky tannin, and terrific purity as well as length suggest it will drink well for 5-6 years.

2004 Rosella's Vineyard Pinot Noir
Rating: (89-91)
A barrel sample of the 2004 Pinot Noir Rosella's Vineyard reveals a softer, less defined and concentrated effort than the 2003.
- Robert Parker

2004 Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir
Rating: (90-92)
The 2004 Pinot Noir (which was about to be bottled when I tasted it) possesses sweet plum and black cherry fruit along with notions of earth, licorice, and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied with supple/velvety tannins that caress the palate, it should drink well for 3-4 years.
